The Batmobile, Perhaps the most famous Batmobile is the Lincoln Futura customized by George Barris for the 1966-68 TV series, Batman. Commissioned by the producers to create a Batmobile in only a few weeks, Barris used the remains of the Ford Motor Company's Futura concept car to create the iconic design. Four cars were eventually built by Barris, though only one (the original Futura custom) appeared in the TV show itself. This was the first "real" Batmobile, and nearly all of the bat gadgets were functional. Some of the features on the car included a telephone, radar, smokescreen, chain cutter, "Bat-terring" ram, rocket launchers, drag chutes, and an Atomic Power Plant engine (the actual car used a Ford 427 motor). The style of the car remained popular long after the show ended, and its influence continues in Batmobile designs today. It is still considered by many to be the Batmobile.
