Technology to Transform any Car

(ARA) - High tech doesn't mean useless gadgets or hard-to-use electronic devices any more, especially when it comes to automotive accessories. There are devices for safety, convenience, and just plain fun available to take any vehicle from "standard-issue" to "nicely equipped" quickly and easily.

"The gadgets available for cars today run circles around what was available just a few years ago," says Jason Bird of AutoSport, an online and catalog retailer of automotive accessories. "We're always on the lookout for innovative, quality products that can make our customers' time in their cars more enjoyable, and one of the most popular gadgets you can get is a hands-free cell phone kit."

Bird says The Roadster is one of AutoSport's hottest sellers. It has a built-in speaker and noise reduction circuitry for clear sound, plus full-duplex conversation that lets you talk and hear at the same time, a voice-activated auto-answer function that adds safety, and volume control for the phone right on the unit. "State laws are getting strict and roads are more congested than ever. Hands-free devices are the common-sense way to reduce cell-phone related accidents and stay on the good side of new laws," says Bird.

Another accessory with safety in mind is a portable jump starter. If you have one in your trunk, the next time your battery dies, you'll be able to jump-start your car or SUV without having to wait around for help. Some even have built-in tire inflators and accessory sockets, making them even more useful.

There are so many choices for music playback -- most likely your car stereo isn't taking advantage of them all. With a wireless FM transmitter, the problem is solved. Just plug the tiny device into your portable CD player, MP3 player, cassette player, or any other audio device, then tune your radio to any of four unused FM frequencies to hear the playback through your car's speakers.

For anyone really into useful gadgets, they may want to invest in one of AutoSport's GPS units. Bird says, "GPS technology has advanced quickly in the past year. The latest units include built in maps of North America complete with address detail and over 2 million points of interest. These portable units can help you find the nearest ATM, gas station, or address, in your hometown, or across the country."
