Audi R8 - Audi's R8 is about to get another model in the form of the R8 Spider Convertible next year. For those of you that were waiting for more R8 models your moment is almost here. Very soon the R8 will be offered with two gas engines (V8 & V10), a diesel (V12), and convertible or targa versions. It is being rumored that the Spider will have a targa setup with removable panels rather than a conventional soft top or folding hardtop. Audi R8 is based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, unveiled three years ago. Confirming its ambitions, the R8 features a mid-mounted engine with a maximum power output of 420 bhp and peak torque of 430 Nm reached at 4,500 to 6,000 rpm and distributed between front and rear axles in 44 to 56 proportion. The quarter mile time for the R8 is 12.6 seconds and road handling on the 300 ft skid pad is 0.98g. |
