This is the C3R which is a C6 (Corvette) Platform based Retro of a 1969 Corvette Stingray.

C3R Corvette

The C3R Corvette is a re-bodied design of the C6 Corvette, the current version. It takes its inspiration from the classic 1968-72 Corvette Stingray, featuring similar high-sloping front and rear fender peaks and razor-sharp nose to give the C3R that distinctive silhouette we all love on the 3rd generation Corvettes.

Many car enthusiasts dream of a sports car that is not only a pleasure to drive, but is all the more gratifying to behold. A car that makes it from concept to production without being watered down by the mass-marketing bureaucrats' in the automotive industries. Well the waiting is over and based on the reaction of enthusiasts the world over, the C3R is that car.

The C3R project is in its design and development phase, but readers of car magazines have been given a sneak preview. In addition, designer Christian Cyrulewski has the intention of creating a limited production run of the C3R in the near future. The current version incorporates all of the design features of the original concept and will have a more aggressive look.

427 Version of the C3R

Christian is also working on a version powered by the classic 427 (7.0 liter) V8 engine from Katech, maker of racing engines for the C5R and C6R. Like its inspiration, the ’69 427 Corvette, this version of the C3R would feature the distinctive side exhaust pipes and hood with working heat extractors.

Coming Soon for the C3R

Christian Cyrulewski is making plans to debut a prototype of the C3R at the Woodward Dream Car Cruise in Detroit, Michigan in 2009. If it makes the expected splash, there could be a kit edition to enable the enthusiast to transform an ordinary C6 or Z06 into a 3rd-Gen Corvette retro dream machine.

We are currently engineering the new surface data to fit the underlying C6 Platform. We are also re-designing the rear-end to give it a more retro look rather than looking like a clone. Renderings will be out some time next week on the C3Retro.com web site.

The C3R will make it's debut at the 2009 Woodward Cruise in Detroit, Michigan (my home town) next year and we will follow up that with the SEMA show in Las Vegas. If there is enough interest we will begin producing kits. We don't have a price right now because we are still trying to determine how many new parts we will need, but we are trying to use as many carry over parts as possible to keep the price down.

We are also working on a 427 version of the C3R which will have styling similar to the 1969 427 Corvette hood and side pipes. The kit would still be based on the base c6 but with a Katech budget 427 in place of the stock motor. (Katech is a Michigan based company that builds the C5R and C6R race motors) When I finished with the rear end updates I am going to start on the new hood.
