2008 Lotus 2+2 GT ‘Evora’ - Lotus has revealed the new name of its latest model, a 2+2 GT that made its official debut today at the London Motor Show. The car will from now be known as the ‘Evora’ (named after a city in Portugal) and it joins the ranks of Lotus’ existing models, including the Elise, Exige and Europa. The new Evora is the first all-new car from Lotus since the introduction of the Elise back in 1995, and it’s the only sports car on the market with a mid-engine layout and a 2+2 seating configuration.

Salica Cars reveals specs for new GTC supercar - Salica Cars is a niche sports car manufacturer that’s most notable for building and modifying Noble kit cars, however the British firm has now released first details and images for a new supercar, called the Salica GT, which is set to go on sale at the end of the year. The car will be available in both left and right hand drive formats, and will be sold in either completed form or as knocked-down kits.

Ferrari California images - The first official images of Ferrari’s latest model, the all-new GT California convertible have finally been released after months of tantalizing spy shots and recent teasers. The new model will be available exclusively as a convertible and will feature several firsts for Ferrari including a new automatic folding hard-top, mid-front engine position and dual-clutch technology.

Coating makes scratches on cars disappear
"We developed a polymeric material that is able to repair itself by exposure to the sun," said Marek Urban of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, whose study appears in the journal Science. "In essence, you create a scratch and that scratch will disappear upon exposure to the sun," Urban said in an interview on the Science website. The self-healing coating uses chitosan, a substance found in the shells of crabs and shrimp. This is incorporated into traditional polymer materials, such as those used in coatings on cars to protect paint.
